Is priesthood for me?

“National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated November 3-9, 2024, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations”

Do you all remember Abel Garcia, an Incorrupto member who recently entered the seminary?

Well… here’s a message from our current seminarian:

A seminarian is a person undergoing training to become a priest, either in formation or in the major seminary. In order to see oneself as a priest, he must first see himself as a seminarian undergoing human, intellectual, and spiritual formation.

God calls everyone to deny themselves and follow Him but not everyone is capable of doing so.

After 5 years of discernment and ignoring God’s call, I finally said yes. There is a great spiritual crisis in our society that I could no longer ignore. I asked God for the grace to respond to this crisis.

God speaks to everyone in different ways, but we often ignore Him or can’t hear Him through the busyness of our lives. Only in silence was I able to hear what God had wanted me to pursue..in silent adoration.

It often starts with a question in your mind, “Is priesthood for me?” This is the question I had in mind after being baptized and confirmed into the church.

I reached out to a vocation director with a simple question, “Is it possible?” The vocation director said yes and reaffirmed me that every step I took was discernment. To my surprise the steps I took towards my discernment felt peaceful and no fear was left inside of me.

Sometimes we have a question inside of us, that bugs us like:

“Is it possible for someone to become a priest?”

or

“What about my education?”

I recommend putting all fears aside and reaching out to a vocation director because God has already done the hard work and reached out to you.
